What is jPod?

Pod is a facilitated, self-directed learning program based on Appreciative Inquiry, democratic decision-making, individual timelines and a student-run Code of Care Recommendation Committee. Students receive support in reaching particular learning goals. A central component of the program is a vibrant, diverse community of learners that run on the Tribes principles of mutual respect and understanding. Students are guided towards meeting the curriculum expectations for the particular credit they are pursuing. Students in jPod can obtain credits in any course currently existing within the Toronto District School Board Choices document, including Philosophy. Students may also obtain Interdisciplinary credits which can be used towards the six needed post-secondary credits. During the personal admission interview, students specify which credit(s) they are interested in and the jPod staff determines if selection can be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.

A Self-Directed Learning Process

Every student in jPod goes through a continual cycle in the Self-Directed Learning Process.
